DOES GOD SPEAK THROUGH DREAMS

The Bible teaches that God-given dreams are the result of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. ACTS 2: 17 declares:

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, said God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.”

Dreams and visions can be a God-inspired source of direction in your life, but you must know God`s Word. Every dream should be tested to see if it is with the Scriptures. I truly believe we are in the end times. Everywhere I can see tremendous move of God throughout the world, but I also see tremendous deception. Jesus warned of this when He spoke of the final days: “...Take heed that you be not deceived...”

God often uses spiritual dreams and visions. God will speak to you through

a dream at times, perhaps show you a prophetic dream or vision, and expect you to pray it into fulfilment. Remember this dreams become realities through prayer.

We are living in three worlds: The world of God`s Spirit, The Natural world and the Demonic realm. All three worlds affects us. But as believers, we should be influenced most by the spiritual realm, little by the natural and not at all by the demonic.

True biblical dreams are the result of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

A demonic dream comes from Satan to defile your flesh. This type of dream often concerns sexual acts and always results in corruption.

Natural dreams come from your mind, resulting from the a multitude of business and they are usually crazy dreams. When you awake from such a dream, your soul is empty as declares ISAIAH 29: 8 -“It shall even be as when an hungry man dreams, and, behold, he eats; but he awakes, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreams, and, behold, he drinks; but he awakes, and, behold, he is faint and his soul.

You can always tell when the dream is from God, because it will leave a great

and lasting impression on you. It will be clear and not hazy, and it affect the destiny of your life. Study Genesis 40 which records the dreams of the butler and the baker which were interpreted by Joseph. Dreams that are from God will come to pass.

Both of these dreams were fulfilled within hours of their interpretation.

HOW DREAMS  ORIGINATED

Originally, God communicated with man face-to-face. He walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. After sin separated man from this intimate fellowship with his Creator, God began to use other means of communication.

Most of the time, God speaks to us through His written Word, but He also speaks through prophets, dreams and visions.

THE PURPOSES  OF  DREAMS

The first record of a biblical vision and dream is in GENESIS 15 when God communicates with Abraham through a vision, then He gives Abraham a dream:

This passage illustrates how a vision is a revelation of God and His nature, while

a dream is a revelation of God`s plan and agenda for your life.

When God gives you a dream, don`t ignore it!

The Bible says you should tell it as in JEREMIAH 23: 28, and you shall act upon it in obedience. In JOB 33: 17-18, we see that God speaks through dreams to turn us away from sin, disaster, or destruction. “That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.He keeps back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing

If you do not act in obedience on a God-given dream, then sometimes you may experience chastisement. Study this in JOB 33: 19-22.

At times God repeats an important dream for emphasis as in JOB 33: 14, just as He did to Pharaoh in GENESIS 41: 1-8. He does this to establish it, especially in the area of prophetic dreams: “And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.”

JOB 36: 5-12 declares that God also uses dreams to warn man of his evil ways.

“Then He showed them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.

Sometimes God gives you guidance through the dreams of His anointed prophets

“And He said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.”

NUMBERS 12: 6. God also gives His people dreams to provide strategies for overcoming the enemy. In JUDGES 7: 9-15, Gideon was preparing to fight a tremendous battle against a huge army. He went through the enemy`s camp and heard two men talking about a dream. Gideon recognised that the dream was from God.

He acted upon it, and God gave him victory over the enemy as in JUDGES 7: 15 -

“And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said: Arise;

for the LORD has delivered into our hands the host of Midian.”

HOW  TO  RECEIVE DREAMS  FROM  GOD

God told Israel in NUMBERS 12: 6-8 “Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Mosses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall be behold...”

Most of us receive God`s plans through “similitudes” - which are the images or puzzling revelations which take time to become clear. The key word here is “Faithful”.

If you want God to give you dreams and make them clear to you - as if He was speaking to you face to face - you must be faithful to Him and His Word as Mosses was.
