THE POWER TO HELP IN TEMPTATION

Today we are talking about the power of God's Word when it comes to temptation.

Temptation comes to everybody, opportunity comes once but the temptations leans on the door bell, keep ringing all the time. We must see how Jesus deals with temptation:

MATTHEW 4: 1-11 declares:"Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness

to be tempted by the devil." And why the Holy Spirit allowed Him to be tempted by the devil? There are two purposes or reasons that God allowed His Son to be tempted:

1. Remember that everything God does has heavenly purpose to prove that Jesus, His Son is a sinless and worldly Redeemer. God has led by His Spirit to allow Jesus to be tempted by the enemy to prove to the world that He is worthy to be Redeemer.

"And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, after He was hungry."

And now forty lonely days without food. Think about this - forty long days with no food. We see in the Bible how Mosses was fasting for forty days, than Joshua and Elisha. But none from them was tempted afterwards. The enemy was waited until Jesus was drain physically and the devil shows up like the enemy. He will tempt you when you are the weakest and it's exactly what he did with our Lord "Now when the tempter came to Him and he said: 'If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.'  When the Father said inMATTHEW  3: 17 -"This is My beloved Son"

devil ask: If you are the Son of God?  And Jesus resist with the Word of God.

"But He answered and said: "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone,

but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." He relied what was written.

When temptation comes you can not fight in what is in your spirit, you can only fight what you say: It is written. You cannot fight back with what God said to me in past

but what is in the eternal Word of God. It is not what you heard, it is what is written.

How sad it is when you do not know what is written in the Word of God. Jesus knew the Scripture from DEUTERONOMY 8: 3 that states: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." If He uses the Word being as God, so we as a men should use Scripture against the devil and his demons.

If God uses the Word don't you dare to use anything else. He knew the weapon.

When devil took Jesus up into the holy city and said to Him:"If you are the Son of God

throw Yourself down. For it is written: 'He shall give His angels charge over  you."

I am showing you how enemy tempt and how Jesus was dealing with his attacks.

The enemy, devil is very smart and cunning he is often saying that is no other way out and it is normal way to do. It is normal thing to eat when you are hungry. The devil will tempt you with what is normal. He will use the normal thing in your condition to tempt.

The devil will tempt us always to have our need met at the wrong time and wrong way.

His aim is also to cause you to doubt, so he said: "If You are the Son of God..."

But Jesus don't rely on His experience but on the: "It is written ..."

It is so important that you know the Scriptures, the Word of the Living God.

The devil here is using the same weapon that Jesus was using against him, Scripture.

For he know the Bible better than you. So he citied the PSALM 91: 11.

"He shall give His angels charge concerning you...

The devil always will tempt you with something sensational. First natural than sensational, something made you fame overnight, something that the world will stop.

But Jesus said in verse 7: "It is written ,"You shall not tempt the LORD your God."

This is found in DEUTERONOMY 6: 16. "You shall not tempt the LORD your God."

The second reason God lead Jesus into the wilderness was identifying with us with our testings and temptations. It is what HEBREWS 2: 18 says: "For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to help those who are tempted."

The devil will tempt you to do something normal and something sensational after.

And thirdly the devil took him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him:

"Away with you, Satan! For it is written,"You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve." It was written in MATTHEW 4: 10.

Devil always uses 'If' but God never  does. It is no 'if's' in the Kingdom of God.

God promised you the kingdoms of the world, so you can have them if you will bow and worship me. Every temptation has a promise. The promise here is "I'll give you the world". Promise with Eve was "You will be like God". So every temptation has promise

The devil wants to be like God as in ISAIAH 14 declares "I will be like the Most High"

His desire is to be like God and many are worshiping him. The Bible says he even invaded heaven and was throw out of heaven. Into Jesus he said; "If you do that, I'll give you the world." And Jesus answered in verse 10: "Away with you, Satan!

It is written: You shall worship the Lord your God, and to Him only you shall serve.

He not told about His past experience with God but He told what the Bible says.

DEUTERONOMY 6: 13 - "They shall fear the Lord your God and serve Him..."

The devil is not changed and He was using all the covenant Scriptures against enemy.

The devil tempt Him in what was natural, what was sensational, and in short - cut.

He will do the same to you and do the same with you. In LUKE 4: 13 Word declares:

"Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time." It was not over yet, he hasn't finished yet. In HEBREWS 4: 15 -

..."He was tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin." Jesus Christ was tempted with every desires of your heart, He gone with what we are going through in all points.

Full force of temptation came on Him and against Him in His weakest moment of fast.

My friend those temptation comes to you all the time. The devil offers you more short-cuts and more sensational feelings with natural things what you want in your life.

Everything in wrong time, in wrong way. The result of overcoming temptation is the power of the Spirit as we see in Jesus as news on Him went out through all regions.

When you overcome temptation, you will go in the power of the Spirit. You want God's power on your life? If you do it, if you overcome, what is reward? Power of the Spirit!

You have it today when you say NO to temptation. There two reasons for temptation:

1. He is coming to destroy God's redemptive plan for your life, His will for your life.

2. He is going to achieve his greatest desires, because when you obey him, you finished.

When you obey his temptation, you make him your god and fulfil his desires.

You obey false god who is coming to destroy you. This happens with finances, happens with sex life, happens with everything in your life.

More people sitting in church today than before whose lives are destroyed because they submitted to the natural, sensational or short-cuts compromises.

But I know merciful God and He forgives you once you'll repent. PSALM 119: 9- 11.

"How can young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your Word.

With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from commandments

Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You."

How to handle immorality, the answer is right here in PROVERBS 6: 23 - 32 - 34

"For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light; The key is here because you need the law and commandment as light and a lamp. When you are in darkness you need badly a lamp and the light. A lamp shows me how to walk and the light shows me where I am going. A lamp is not strong enough  but the light show you all around.

"Reproofs of instruction are the way of life. To keep you from the evil woman, from the flattering tongue of a seductress. Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, not let her allure you with her eyelids. For by means of a harlot a man is reduced to crust of bread; and an adulteress will prey upon his precious life.

Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he who does adultery destroys his own soul. Wounds and dishonour he will get, and his reproach will not be wiped away. For jealousy is a husband fury, therefore he will not spare him."

JAMES 4: 7 - "Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

I PETER 5 : 9 - "Resist him, steadfast in faith.” ROMANS 6: 14 says: "For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the law but under grace."

TITUS 2: 11 - "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age looking for the blessed hope and glory."

God's grace is to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. By grace of God you can deny.

You can say NO to temptation because you are more than conquer in Jesus' Name.

Could you confess this Scripture in ROMANS 8: 37 - "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." By the grace of God I am more than conquer. I have a power to say NO to temptation and sin. I have a power and authority to master temptation so sin shall not have dominion over me. ROMANS 6: 14  "For sin shall not have dominion over me, for you are not under law but under grace.

Jesus won over Satan and through Him I am a winner. I can do all things through Christ and I am more than a conquer through Jesus Christ. LORD temptation has access to our minds but has no access to our wills. I pray that You empower your people that they will live their life with a smile on their faces and pleases You always. Amen.
